Works were ending and the dam should be commissioned shortly, with retention capacity close to 200 million m3. Reported progress does not run in one direction, 84 per cent in April 2024 and 96 per cent in April 2025 against about 90 per cent in August 2026, and the figures are recorded as published. No source opened confirms that commissioning took place on the announced date, so the stage stays Under construction. Budget converted from 276 million dinars at about three dinars to the dollar, the rate the register already uses for Tunisian costs. The name avoids Mellegue 2 so that it cannot be read as a variant of the existing Mellegue Dam row, which is the 1954 Nebeur structure.
