Libya built more than 70 treatment plants of various capacities and technologies between the late 1960s and the early 1990s, and they did not meet their objectives. The Government of National Unity adopted the Board's 2024 to 2027 plan to rehabilitate and maintain existing plants and build new ones for many of the country's main cities. No cost figure and no completion date were published for the Hadba Khadra plant. Coordinates added on 20 September 2026, approximate.
