Double-arch concrete dam 180 m high from foundation with a crest length of 202 m, on the Seymareh river between Ilam and Lorestan, 40 km north-west of Darreh Shahr and about 700 km south-west of Tehran; total reservoir 2,473 million m3 with 810 million m3 live; installed capacity 480 MW in three vertical Francis units of 160 MW with generators of 178 MW and annual energy of 844 to 850 GWh; consultants Mahab Ghodss and ELC; preliminary studies 1993-1996, diversion tunnel completed 2001, main dam and powerhouse construction started December 2002 and concrete placement began November 2006. The Seymareh is a headwater of the Karkheh, so the scheme sits upstream of Karkheh Dam.
