  2. Gives the history, the site in Mazandaran 75 km from Tehran and 100 km from Amol, the purposes of irrigation and drinking water supply and of feeding the Kalan power plant, and the figures used here: crest 1,150 m long and 13 m wide, 800 m wide at the base, 105 m high from the river bed and 107 m from foundation, three outlet gates totalling 150 m3/s, a spillway of 1,160 m3/s, a design life of 100 years, reservoir levels of 2,509 m maximum, 2,460 m minimum and 2,432 m at the lake bed, total capacity 960 million m3 with 940 million m3 useful and 23 million m3 dead over a 17 km2 lake, and 340 million m3/year regulable; and a pumping station of 18.5 m3/s built for when gravity transfer is not possible, with a main shaft 65 m deep and 15.5 m finished diameter, intake and outlet tunnels totalling 90 m at 3 m finished diameter, a 1,200 m3 surge chamber ringing the shaft and eight pumps, four of 1,100 kW and four of 880 kW, supplied by KSB of Germany.
  3. The same page's location table names Pakdasht as the nearest city and gives coordinates of 52.3 and 35.4, neither of which fits the Lar valley; the coordinates here come from OpenStreetMap.

  5. MENA Water Review major projects register and PPP pipeline — compiled from procurer publications, development-bank project pages and trade reporting; each record names its source.

Gives Kalan as three vertical Francis units of 38.5 MW with average annual generation of 150 GWh.
