Construction from 2006 and operations from 2009, on a concession running 2009 to 2034. Coordinates added on 20 September 2026 from OpenStreetMap way 280412787, named Station de Déssalment d'eau de mer Skikda, a polygon of about 5.7 hectares at 36.8820 6.9663. The feature carries landuse=industrial and no water tag, which is why earlier water works and name sweeps missed it. The Algerian Desalination Company gives the site as 40,000 square metres. Reverse geocoding returns Larbi Ben M'Hidi in the Skikda daira of Skikda wilaya, the commune Algerian reporting names for the plant, and the point lies 0.33 km from the OpenStreetMap coastline.
